About Doug Foote

Doug Foote was nominated by Thomas Ashbaugh of Ashbaugh Financial.

Mr. Foote has always been about serving; he learned that very early from his dad. He's been married for 28 years and has five boys. Carrying the family legacy of service, his eldest son has also served with the department for five years. He will have to stay awhile to reach his father's 16 years with the department.

Mr. Foote has two meritorious service awards. He led the vision board for the city of Chanhassen's Fireman's Memorial and helped raise over $100,000. He also walked across the state to raise awareness for MnFIRE (Minnesota Firefighter Initiative), for which he strongly advocates. MnFIRE works with mental health, cardiac, and cancer for firefighters. He is proud of all the money raised for such a worthy organization set up to assist the rescue community.

Mr. Foote has served his community, not just with firefighting, but by saving two lives with CPR. He has also saved a cat! The one thing on his bucket list yet to be accomplished is delivering a baby, as some of his crew have.

Mr. Foote has also been on the Relief Board for his department. While he credits the strong support of his wife, he plans to continue his work on the boards he helps and the department in the years ahead. Mr. Foote wishes more young people would get involved as the feelings you get for serving your community far outweigh the time involved. If he receives a Do Good Hero Award, he will give it to MnFIRE because of his strong belief in their mission.
