Officer Tyrone Derrick is more than a dedicated member of the Trotwood Police Department—he is a trusted mentor, advocate, and community leader. In his role as a school safety administrator for Trotwood City Schools, Officer Derrick works tirelessly to ensure a secure and supportive environment for students. His commitment to youth extends beyond school hours, as he also serves as a youth basketball coach, using sports as a tool to build confidence, discipline, and strong character.
Recognizing the importance of mental wellness, Officer Derrick leads an annual Youth Mental Health Summit through the Detour Program. This impactful event focuses on suicide prevention and equips teens with essential tools and resources to navigate everyday challenges and emotional struggles.
In addition to his work with youth, Officer Derrick supports fellow public servants. For several years, he has organized events for local police officers and firefighters, educating them on employee benefits and retirement planning—ensuring those who serve our communities are prepared for their futures.
