About Anthony Chen

Anthony Chen was nominated by Lewis Morrell and Kevin Zebrowski of Protection Red.

Mr. Chen's dedication to service in the fire department and his community exemplifies the highest standards of selflessness and leadership. He has been an active member of the Chambersburg Fire Department since August 2016, but his commitment to serving others began much earlier. Between 2007 and 2011, Mr. Chen served in the U.S. Army Airborne Infantry, where he honed his discipline, leadership, and community-oriented mindset. His service in the military laid the foundation for the remarkable impact he has had on both the fire service and the community ever since.

Beyond his duties at the Chambersburg Fire Department, Mr. Chen has demonstrated his passion for community support by creating and leading the "Holidays With Heroes" program. Modeled after the well-known "Shop with Cops" initiative, this program goes above and beyond by involving firefighters alongside law enforcement officers in partnering with local families in need. The event took 35 impoverished and homeless families from the local school district and veteran families. They were partnered with a first responder who took them shopping. He went door to door off duty to businesses to raise funds. The program gave shoppers $300 to spend for themselves and their families. Additionally, the families were given $200 worth of food items. He continues to work on the event and is attempting to make it an annual community event.

Additionally, Mr. Chen continues to give back by volunteering his time and efforts in other local initiatives. He worked on the build site for a Habitat for Humanity house.

"Anthony Chen's selfless service, unwavering commitment to others, and leadership have impacted the lives of many. He is a true embodiment of the values that this recognition honors," said Morrell and Zebrowski.
