About Jimmy Bonner

Jimmy Bonner's was personally nominated by his Fire Chief. The Chief's nomination was submitted by Nicole Nunez of Freedom Financial Solutions.

Mr. Bonner has been with the Springfield Fire Dept since 2017 and has been an asset since he started. He is always courteous and polite, and he provides a high level of customer service on all service calls and events. Mr. Bonner is always the first to volunteer for public education events, prevention activities, CPR classes, etc. He became a CPR instructor to help current medical professionals maintain their licensure and train the citizens of Springfield. He always sacrifices his own time to help the department by covering shifts, volunteering, or teaching. All of this is outside his regular working hours.

Two specific occasions set him apart from other candidates by showing his character. One day, he was in the fire apparatus room and noticed a car across the street at Larry's restaurant had a flat tire. It was an elderly lady, and he went to change it for her. The other occasion happened one morning while he came in for his shift. He saw a woman walking on the side of the highway. Mr. Bonner had never seen her before, but he stopped and asked if she needed help. He gave the woman a ride to her destination and continued to work. Mr. Bonner is constantly going above and beyond just being a first responder. He always tries to help someone in need, whether on or off duty.
