Alfredo Jimenez, Sergeant
Tempe Police Department
Phoenix, AZ
Alfredo Jimenez was nominated by Matthew Garcia of Arrive Financial Services.
"Alfredo and his organization have two groups helping the community that I have witnessed firsthand and even volunteered in myself over the past five years that I have known him," said Garcia.
He is a marine veteran and Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt. Mr. Jimenez runs a weekly first responders course, free of charge to any first responder. He teaches grappling and self-defense to better equip first responders when dealing with the public to protect themselves and others without using more harmful or lethal means. His course routinely has 20-plus attendees.
Different departments have recognized Mr. Jimenez for his work. He would use the Do Good Heroes award to upgrade facilities and purchase training equipment.
Mr. Jimenez also runs a bullying prevention class for kids during the summer. Last summer, more than 30 kids learned self-defense and martial arts to protect themselves, instill confidence, and show them how to recognize and prevent bullying. The Do Good Heroes award would help fund materials and activities that he paid for out of pocket.
