About Philip Hilliker

Captain Philip Hilliker was nominated by Amber Hilliker of EPS Wealth Management.

Captain Hilliker has been a deputy for 20 years. He recently had a girl scout troop visit his district. Capt. Hilliker put together an entire tour for these young ladies. Given that a girl scout troop visited the district, he asked a female K-9 officer to assemble a K-9 demonstration for the young ladies. He also invited a chief, a strong female leader, to come and instill wisdom into the hearts and minds of the girls. The event was a huge success!

Capt. Hilliker is also responsible for the safety of those who attend NASCAR in Avondale every year. His job is massive. He has to put the entire security team together to ensure thousands have a fun and safe environment to watch the race. A lot of preplanning goes into NASCAR. He has to find all the local law enforcement officers who are willing to work extra hours. The days are super long. He will go to work by 5 or 6 AM and stay until 7 PM or longer for several days in a row. Working these long hours is super hard on the body, but he will do it to protect all the race attendees.

Capt. Hilliker is always ready to help meet the needs of the community he serves. His district has coordinated backpack drives for school children in need. Capt. Hilliker has participated in the past through Shop with a Sheriff. Children who need Christmas gifts receive a $100 gift card to purchase gifts of their choosing. The deputies escort the children and help them shop to their heart's content.

Capt. Hilliker often works with the schools in his district to help avoid active shooter situations. He works closely with the city of Gila Bend. Capt. Hilliker attends their monthly meetings. He also encourages his deputies to attend sporting events at the schools in his district. He wants the children and the community to know the deputies are there for them if they need assistance.

Capt. Hilliker also volunteered for a bike ride across hundreds of miles in rough terrain for the Fallen Officers Memorial, which takes place every year in Washington, DC.
