Austin Ellis, EMS-Critical Care Paramedic
Robertson County EMS
Springfield, TN
Austin Ellis was nominated by Nicole Ellis of Freedom Financial Solutions.
Mr. Ellis shows superior knowledge and courage every day in his profession. No task or job is too great for him to conquer. He is deeply devoted to his career as a Critical Care Paramedic and to the citizens of Robertson County.
One instance that comes to mind occurred in a rural part of town; there was an overturned 18-wheeler with the driver still stuck in the cab. Mr. Ellis was the first responder on site and administered care as best as possible with the circumstances. There was flammable fluid outside the truck and inside the cab, where the driver was stuck. The fire department tried to extricate him once they arrived but could not do so. Mr. Ellis slid into the truck, which was an extremely tight fit that also caused minor scrapes, lacerations, and injuries to himself. He offered aid to the driver while assessing the number of critical injuries and using his expertise to get the victim out.
After over an hour of trying, the victim was finally freed from the truck and transferred to an airlift to be taken to the closest hospital. Mr. Ellis was ready to go on another call and had to be told by his chief that he needed to be checked out for his injuries. If that had not been the case, he would've gone straight to the next call. He is constantly putting citizens and others before his own well-being. Robertson County is lucky to have him. This is only one example of many instances where Mr. Ellis has been a Do Good Hero.
