About Sheriff Marian Brown

Sheriff Marian Brown was nominated by Rosemary Beyer of Our Infinite Company.

Sheriff Marian Brown's proactive approach to community building is evident in her creation of the first community relations office in the Dallas County Sheriff's Office. This initiative, along with her establishment of over 82 partnerships, has been instrumental in bridging communities and fostering collaboration among those passionate about resolving challenges. Her department's significant donations to organizations such as Genesis Women's Shelter, Young Life (Dallas), Prison Fellowship, and Volunteers of America further underscore her commitment to making Dallas stronger.

Sheriff Brown's deep roots in Dallas, her hometown, are a testament to her commitment to the community. As the first African-American Sheriff Chief, she uses her platform to inspire the youth, demonstrating that with determination, anything is possible.

For Sheriff Brown, no mission is too big or too small. She believes she is truly called to serve by organizing town halls that address riveting issues and creating initiatives like IDs for Change to help under-resourced youth receive their IDs. Sheriff Brown has a strong passion for assisting children in the community. A few of her missions are providing 12,000 backpacks during annual back-to-school drives and funding Christmas community events focused on families with a dream of providing memorable experiences in the unincorporated areas of Dallas County.

Being a mother to a daughter herself, Sheriff Brown sees the worldwide need to support mothers and children. Angel With Big Wings (AWBW) Foundation is a nonprofit organization with local and international reach. The AWBW Foundation is dedicated to helping communities around the world reach their full potential. It champions the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 3, 'Good Health and Well Being,' by promoting the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of mothers and children.

Sheriff Brown is committed to building strong local partnerships, which are essential to any sustainable development. Her commitment, combined with her incredible leadership and shattering of limitations, makes her a National Life Do Good Hero.
