Joe Dudley, Police Officer
Dunellen Police Department
Dunellen, NJ
Joseph Dudley was nominated by Joseph Ablahani of Capital Benefits, LLC.
Officer Dudley has been on the Dunellen Police Force for 24 years. On Saturday, September 3rd, 2022, Dunellen Police responded to a report of a residential structure fire at 125 Kline Place. On arrival, Officer Dudley observed heavy smoke coming from the eves, and smoke was visible through the storm door from the ceiling to the floor. Upon entering the residence to check for residents still inside, Officer Dudley observed a heavy smoke condition and that the front bedroom was fully involved with fire. Two dogs found in the residence were removed, and Officer Dudley proceeded further into the residence, calling out for anyone inside. A man's voice called back from the rear of the residence in the area affected by fire. The 77-year-old resident was found in the hallway between the bedroom on fire and an adjacent room. The older man, in shock, was disoriented and initially refused to leave the residence. After attempting to talk the man out of the residence, Officer Dudley resorted to physically removing the man from the house. Both the resident and Officer Dudley were attended to by medical personnel and transported to the hospital for smoke inhalation and other medical issues. Both were later released without any lingering effects.
