Tyler Rivers, Officer
Baltimore County Police Department
Baltimore, MD
Officer Tyler Rivers was nominated by Ryan Behnken of Worthington Financial Partners.
Officer Rivers has been a member of the Baltimore County Police Department since October 2013. He began participating in the Special Olympics of Maryland- Law Enforcement Torch Run early in his career. The Law Enforcement Torch Run is a fundraiser that benefits the Special Olympics of Maryland (SOMD) in which Law Enforcement Officers run, as a group, with Special Olympics athletes. The funds raised are used to provide those with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to participate in sporting events at the local, state, and national levels.
Officer Rivers saw the impact of his involvement on the Special Olympics athletes and looked for other ways to get involved. Officer Rivers began participating in the Polar Bear Plunge fundraising event and attended SOMD athletic events to present the competitors with their victory medals. Since 2018, Officer Rivers has coordinated the Baltimore County Police Department's Special Olympics fundraising activities. He has worked tirelessly to motivate the department and community to donate generously to support this worthwhile cause. In 2022, The Baltimore County Police Department raised $15,000 for the Special Olympics and was the #1 fundraising law enforcement team. The Baltimore County Police Department has raised $40,000 since Officer Rivers began his tenure as the department's fundraising coordinator.
"Officer Rivers' dedication and personal commitment to the athletes to the Special Olympics of Maryland is worthy of recognition," said Behnken.
