George Bandurchin III
Baltimore County Police Department
Parkville, MD
George Bandurchin was nominated by Ryan Behnken of Worthington Financial Partners. "It is with deep pride and admiration that I recommend Sergeant Bandurchin for the Do Good Hero Award. As both a colleague and his spouse, I have witnessed firsthand the unwavering commitment, selflessness, and heart he brings to his work—not only as a law enforcement officer but as a true pillar of the Baltimore County community," said Elizabeth Banduchin.
Sergeant Bandurchin is dedicated to public safety and public service. His mission goes beyond his badge, as he strives each day to uplift the lives of children, families, and fellow officers through innovation, compassion, and integrity.
One shining example of his creativity and commitment is the Badges for Bass program, which he founded and has organized for two consecutive years. This event has brought over 60 children from across Baltimore County to the Loch Raven Reservoir, many of whom had never fished or even been on a boat. Months of preparation go into making this event memorable. Sergeant Bandurchin personally lines each fishing rod at home, designs shirts and hats, paints and personalizes lures and tackle boxes with the Baltimore County Police logo, and ensures every child leaves with their own fishing set to keep. The children consistently describe this event as "one of the best they've ever attended," and many express gratitude for the food, fun, and outdoor experience—something they often lack access to at home. The event's deeper goal is clear: to get kids outdoors, engaged, and cared for in a meaningful way.
Sergeant Bandurchin's passion for service doesn't stop there.
For several years, Sergeant Bandurchin has organized Cupid with a Cop at Morningside Assisted Living. Volunteering his personal time and resources, he arranges and purchases gift bags filled with candy and treats for the senior residents, brightening their day with kindness and connection.
Each holiday season, he leads his team in supporting a Baltimore County family in need, identified through local schools. Together, they provide a full Christmas meal and gifts. Last year, upon learning the family lacked a Christmas tree, Sergeant Bandurchin personally purchased and set up a tree before delivering the gifts—ensuring the family experienced a complete and joyful holiday.
This summer, he launched the first annual community kickball game at Seven Oaks Elementary School, where 30 fourth- and fifth-grade students played, laughed, and connected with local officers. He coordinated the entire event, including securing Kona Ice and facilitating access to the Youth and Community Resources trailer, which provided a safe and fun space for children to enjoy basketball, video games, and more.
He also cares deeply for the well-being of his fellow officers. Each year, he organizes an Officer Appreciation Event at the Parkville Precinct—a gathering that includes food and games to build camaraderie and strengthen teamwork. In a profession that can often be emotionally and physically demanding, these moments of unity and appreciation go a long way toward fostering a stronger, more effective team that serves the community. Beyond these organized events, Sergeant Bandurchin is consistently present in the community. He attends multiple community meetings throughout the year, answering questions, building trust, and opening lines of communication between the police and community residents. When fellow sergeants or lieutenants need support, he never hesitates to step in, ensuring that operations run smoothly and that the community receives the care and services it deserves. Sergeant Bandurchin leads with humility, serves with purpose, and inspires everyone around him. His work is rooted in integrity, compassion, and the belief that law enforcement should not just protect, but also uplift the community. His impact goes beyond the uniform, profoundly affecting the hearts of the children, families, and officers whose lives he has touched. "For his tireless service, innovative spirit, and profound commitment to bettering the lives of others, I wholeheartedly recommend Sergeant Bandurchin for the Do Good Hero Award," said Elizabeth.
