The Mansfield Police Department Community Resource Division was nominated by Dorian Martinez of Our Infinite Company.
The Division is being recognized for its continued dedication, creativity, and commitment to building meaningful relationships between the Police Department and the citizens of Mansfield. It's comprised of Sergeant Kevin Manning, Mental Health/Victim Assistance Coordinator Chloe Fox, Officer Chelsea Guardiola, and Officer Keith Lee. Although the team is small, they're responsible for a wide range of programs and initiatives that significantly impact both the department and the community.
Officer Chelsea Guardiola oversees the Citizens Police Academy and Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS) Program. Through these programs, she helps provide citizens with a better understanding of the Police Department while developing and supporting volunteers who give their time to assist the department and community.
Officer Keith Lee oversees the Division's Residential and Business Crime Reduction Programs, working directly with residents, neighborhoods, apartment communities, and businesses to provide education, identify concerns, and develop proactive strategies designed to reduce crime and improve safety.
Chloe Fox, the Division's Mental Health/Victim Assistance Coordinator, provides an important resource for some of the most vulnerable members of our community. Her work helps connect individuals and families with assistance, resources, and support during difficult circumstances while strengthening the department's overall response to mental health and victim-related needs.
Beyond these individual responsibilities, the Community Resource Division works collectively to maintain a highly visible and active presence throughout Mansfield. Over the past year, the Division has organized and participated in numerous successful community events, including Bike Safety, Casting with Cops, Popsicles with Police, and Books and Badges, as well as other special events, educational opportunities, and community partnerships.
What makes the Community Resource Division especially deserving of recognition is the team's willingness to think outside the box. Rather than relying solely on traditional community outreach methods, the Division is continually seeking new and creative ways to make positive interactions with law enforcement memorable. For community events and special occasions, the Division has designed and produced its own unique Mansfield Police-themed stickers. The team has also designed and produced a children's activity book highlighting the Mansfield Police Department, providing another fun and educational way for children and families to interact with and learn about the department.
These efforts may appear simple on the surface, but they serve a much larger purpose. Every event, sticker, activity book, conversation, class, volunteer opportunity, and community partnership represents another opportunity to build trust and create a positive connection between the Mansfield Police Department and the people it serves.
The Community Resource Division continually works to reach citizens of all ages and backgrounds through engagement, partnerships, education, crime prevention, victim assistance, mental health resources, volunteerism, and community events. The team understands that community policing is not limited to a single program or event; it is an ongoing commitment to being present, accessible, creative, and responsive to the community's needs.
The success of this Division is the result of a true team effort. Each member brings a different area of responsibility and expertise, but they share the same goal: to strengthen the relationship between the Mansfield Police Department and the Mansfield community. Their work represents the Mansfield Police Department's commitment to not only serve the community, but to be a part of it.
