About Officer Jessica Moorman

Officer Jessica Moorman was nominated by Maria Marquez of SLD Solutions.

Officer Moorman exemplifies community-focused policing by extending her dedication far beyond responding to calls and enforcing the law. She took leadership and ownership of coordinating Monte Vista's 2026 First Responders Night Out, bringing together law enforcement, fire, EMS, community organizations, local businesses, and families in a welcoming environment.

The event required weeks of preparation and coordination with participating first-responder agencies, community organizations, businesses, volunteers, and City personnel. Officer Moorman helped coordinate donations, food, supplies, activities, personnel assignments, and the many logistical details necessary to bring the event together.

The positive impact extended far beyond a single evening. The event created an environment where children and families could meet police officers, firefighters, EMS personnel, and other community partners outside of an emergency or enforcement situation. Residents could ask questions, interact with first responders, and build relationships in a relaxed and welcoming setting.

In a small rural community, those relationships are extremely important. Officer Moorman recognized that trust is built one interaction at a time and was willing to do the extra work needed to create those opportunities.

What stands out most is that Officer Moorman did not take on this responsibility for recognition. She saw an opportunity to benefit the community, took responsibility for making it successful, and brought people and organizations together around a shared purpose of serving the community.
